Welcome

Pigyn Clust grew from the new confidence in welsh traditional music growing in the sessions and festivals of the early nineties. from the beginning, the arangements took a simple uncluttered form, staying true to the music, with the original line up of harp, fiddle, bouzouki, low d whistle and of course ffion's precious voice.

The Band

By now, two ffiddles weave playfully through much of the material, supported by a solid base of guitar, bouzouki and mandola. the 'crwth', a bowed lyre popular in wales untill the 17th century, makes the odd special appearance. The tunes and songs come from the aural tradition, the eisteddfod, searching through manuscripts, and our own compositions.
